The Association's aim is to promote the development and distribution of software in Lesser-Used languages through mutual support and collaboration in the interests of the linguistic communities served by its members.
The objectives to fulfil this aim were defined as:
Development
to collaborate on joint projects, taking advantage of economies of scale
to adopt multilingual approach to developing software so that new products are easy to translate
to provide a copy of developed material to fellow members if requested, with a view to publishing a translation
to foster the exchange of personnel eg. students on placement to aid multilingual development
Distribution and marketing
to offer software produced in one language for adaptation to other languages for distribution in those countries, based on a standard mutual distribution agreement
to exchange marketing ideas and approaches
Communication
to maintain a network of World-wide Web pages
to influence major software developers to adopt a multilingual approach to software development
to maintain contact with and inform related organizations of our work
to represent the association's interests in negotiations with companies
to encourage other minority language software developers to join the association
to maintain monthly communication between members by e-mail
to meet once a year, seeking funding support to facilitate this
